
The Fine Print
Effective July 2025
These terms and conditions govern all pottery classes, workshops, studio access, and services provided. By booking or participating in any of our offerings, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to our terms.
Class & Workshop Bookings
All bookings must be made in advance through our online booking system
Payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place
We do not accept walk-in participants without confirmed bookings except on advertised Open Days
Class fees include all basic materials (clay, standard glazes), tools, equipment use, but exclude firing unless specified
Firing cost is based on the weight of your finished piece and charged at 1p per gram
Pricing Structure
All prices are for studio use, tools and materials
Pricing varies for regular classes depending on quantity purchased - Bundles of 4, 8 and 12 are available
Sessions are 2.5-hour inclusive of set up and clear down/cleaning
Regular beginner courses cover comprehensive pottery fundamentals of handbuilding and throwing
Private sessions: Available by arrangement
All fees vary by program - see individual workshop descriptions on our booking page
Online payments accepted through our booking platform
All fees must be paid in full before class attendance
Firing costs can be paid by cash or card once weighed and prior to firing

Payment Methods
Booking & Payment
Cancellation & Rescheduling
Student Cancellations
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before your scheduled class
Cancellations within 24 hours or no-shows are non-refundable and non-transferable
Rescheduling is subject to availability and must be requested within the same term/month
Emergency cancellations will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Studio Cancellations
We reserve the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrolment, instructor illness, weather conditions, or unforeseen circumstances
Students will be offered alternative dates, full refunds, or class credits for studio-initiated cancellations
We are not liable for travel expenses or other costs incurred due to class cancellations
The studio will close for a short period in summer and over Christmas
Terms and courses will be arranged to accomodate these breaks
Students with memberships may arrange to continue using the studio by arrangement, but any work produced will be only be fired when the studio re-opens
Closure
Work in Progress
All work must remain in the studio until completion
Greenware (unfired pottery) cannot be removed from premises
Label all work clearly with your name and date
Work storage available for up to 6 weeks after class completion
Unclaimed work after 6 weeks becomes property of the studio
Clay & Materials
Basic clay and standard glazes included in class fees
Specialty clays or glazes available for additional cost
No outside clay or glazes permitted without prior approval
Excessive material usage may incur additional charges
All clay scraps and sludge must be returned to reclaim area
Pottery Work & Materials
Students participate at their own risk and must follow all safety guidelines
Appropriate clothing required: closed-toe shoes, clothes that can get dirty, long hair tied back
Remove or secure loose jewellery and electronics before working
Students must attend safety briefings before using equipment
First aid kit available on premises
Health & Safety Requirements
Respect shared workspace and other students' work
Never handle, move, or touch other students' pottery without permission
Clean your workspace thoroughly after each session
Return all tools to their designated locations after use
Maintain a supportive and inclusive environment for all participants
Studio Etiquette
Only use equipment after proper instruction from instructor
Report any equipment malfunctions immediately
Do not remove tools or materials from the studio
Studio equipment is for class participants only
Equipment Usage
Student Conduct & Safety
Instructor guidance is required for glaze application
Clean brushes thoroughly between different glazes
Ensure glaze-free bottoms on all pieces before firing
Studio not responsible for glaze results or color variations
Glazing service not provided - students must complete their own work

Firing Process
All firing is performed by qualified studio staff
Standard firing schedule: approximately 2-3 weeks turnaround
We reserve the right to refuse firing if work is unsuitable or poses risks
Firing is charged at 1p per gram at green stage
We currently are unable to fire very large pieces. Please check maximum dimentions available before you plan your make
Firing Risks
Pottery may crack, warp, or break during firing process
Studio not liable for firing failures due to the inherent nature of ceramics
Students accept all risks associated with the firing process
No guarantees on final results or appearance
Kiln Firing
Limitation of Liability
Students participate at their own risk
Studio not liable for personal injury except where legally required
No responsibility for personal belongings brought to studio
Students liable for damage to studio property or equipment caused by negligence
Personal Property
Bring valuables at your own risk
Studio not responsible for theft, loss, or damage to personal items
Finished pottery collection is student's responsibility
Liability & Insurance
Code of Conduct
Respectful behaviour required at all times
Discrimination, harassment, or disruptive behaviour will result in immediate removal
Right of admission reserved
Membership may be terminated for violation of terms
Modifications
Terms subject to change with reasonable notice
Updated terms will be posted on website and in studio
Continued participation constitutes acceptance of modified terms

Intellectual Property
Studio may photograph work and classes for promotional purposes
Students grant permission for use of images in marketing materials
Individual student work remains property of the student
